jon boat ice runners
Put you an extra chunk of angle iron over the ridge seem. this will act just like a dam ice breaker. you can even run extra diamond plate from the water line on the sides down about 6". it would certainly add weight to the boat but it depends on your boat to that extra weight is good to for breaking ice. however it does make a duck boat ice tuff.. Re: jon boat keel protection you can try steelflex they put it on airboat hulls. some duck boats have ice runners which are pieces of aluminum angle welded to the small keels. there great for running your boat up onto the ice and breaking through to get to your blind.. Hey guys i'm going duck hunting in two mornings, and they lake might have some ice on it. i have a 14' jon boat with a modified v, extra wide, extra deep. i don't want to ruin the boat at all, but there are a ton of ducks out there.
jon boat ice runners Here in montana we have to break ice quite a bit and 1" is all i usually want to take on. if you have a heavy gauge boat and you do the method of running the boat on top of the ice and then use weight on the bow to break the ice you might could get through some thicker stuff.. Jet jon boats (known as jet ski jon boat hybrids) have become more common on many rivers. these are unique and usually custom-built jon boats which are powered by jet drive. they’re similar to, but much cheaper alternatives to jet ski boat conversions and jet boats..
