On my model shipways bluenose build, i debated whether or not to make the sails. many (most?) ship models do not include full sails. the model shipways kit was designed with sails, and includes the sail cloth as part of the kit. the inclusion of sails was actually one of the factors that led me to select this kit for my second build.. how to clean model boat sails The biggest enemy of the sail cloth is the sun. where you display the model in your house is important. the model should not be displayed in direct sunlight or near a heat source. if you need to augment the lighting, use low voltage (low temperature) led's. the accumulation of dust, oil and dirt can be avoided by encasing your ship model. a. I would use compressed air for the dust. if by cigarette grossness you mean nicotine stains on the sails and such, i honestly wouldn't risk it. it seems to have aged beautifully, it certainly looks nice, unless there is an actual film on it or something, don't mess with it. the model seems to be wood, you may be able to use a gentle furniture.
