Wood is pretty much the ultimate material to build a boat from except it takes a fair amount of labor to maintain them and they are less durable in some ways than glass or aluminum. aluminum is in most ways the worst material to construct a boat from, the only advantage is it is less likely to get scratches, but this is purely a cosmetic.
