i want to paint my aluminum boat
If you want to leave your aluminum boat in the water for extended periods of time, anti-fouling paint may be necessary to prevent growth on the bottom. and regular paint and clear coat isn’t intended to do this job – you need a paint specifically formulated to be anti-fouling.. As a body shop owner for the last 28 years i,ll give my 2 cents, just an opinion for what it,s worth. 1) painting your boat does not put you in violation of voc laws, but you have to dispose of leftovers properly.2) i think 60 grit on an orbital is a bit rough.primer and paint probably won't fill the hook marks left.. Paint the aluminum boat the color of your choice using a water-resistant paint. again, it will be much easier to first paint half the boat, allow it to dry, then turn the boat over to paint the other half. you may need to apply two coats to get the desired color. allow the paint to dry completely..
i want to paint my aluminum boat Painting a jon boat: a primer coat is used to help the paint adhere to the jon boat aluminum surface and provides an extra layer of protection from corrosion. when using the camouflage paint spray kit, duralux camouflage paint, or marine enamel on bare aluminum apply two coats of duralux zinc chromate a fter sanding.. If you can feel the greasy, waxy finish on your boat you will need to remove it before painting. using rough sponges and boat solvents, like awl-prep, scrub away the waxy finish. generally, running your finger along the surface, top or bottom, will tell you if there is still a coating-- it feels like a candle or a freshly waxed car..
